Patti Ehlers Day June 1, Poker Run to Benefit Wings of Hope
COUNCIL BLUFFS – Mayor Matt Walsh has declared June 1 as Patti Ehlers Day in Council Bluffs. The designation coincides with the annual poker run she founded to help raise money for the needs of area breast cancer patients.
The 6th Annual Patti’s Riders 4 Thrivers Poker Run will be held Saturday, June 1. The run begins and ends at the 4th Street Bar and Grill, 716 S. 4th Street in Council Bluffs. The cost is $20 per person. Registration is from 8:00 to 10:00am and includes a meal and entertainment. All vehicles are welcome.
The run starts at 10:30am, and the route will be announced Saturday. This year’s proceeds will benefit Wings of Hope Cancer Support Center in Council Bluffs.
An avid motorcyclist, Ehlers passed away in 2020 from a horrific motorcycle accident. She was on her way home from participating in a benefit ride for veterans. Since that time, friends and family have carried on what Ehlers started by hosting the poker run each June.
The event also includes a silent auction and live music performance in the evening. This year’s guest artist is Mac and the Bulldogs.
