Sept. 28 Wig Walk to Benefit Image Renewal Services at Wings

 

COUNCIL BLUFFS - Wings of Hope Cancer Support Center will host its 2024 Journey of Hope Wig Walk Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8:00 to 10:30am at River’s Edge Park in Council Bluffs. Proceeds will benefit the organization’s image renewal services, which include the provision of free wigs, hats and other practical care items for people undergoing cancer treatment in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro and throughout southwest Iowa.

The cost is $35 per person. Registration is available at https://runsignup.com/wigwalk. Attendees can choose from 1-mile or 3-mile routes. “It’s the perfect way to spend a morning with family and friends while helping those on the cancer journey in our communities,” said Vergarie Sanford, a member of the organization’s board of directors and former Wings client. Pets on leashes are also welcome.

Registration is from 8:00 to 9:00am, followed by the walks. J's Coffee and Donuts food truck will be on hand. The morning will also feature:

  • Carnival games for the kids

  • Music by DeafAudio DJs

  • Raffles

  • Prizes for the youngest and oldest walkers

T-shirt pick up will be held at Wings of Hope Cancer Support Center, 427 E. Kanesville Boulevard in Council Bluffs (Suite 202) on the following days and times:

Thursday, Sept. 26
4:00 to 7:00pm

Friday, Sept. 27
8:00am to 1:00pm

T-shirts also can be picked up on walk day from 8:00 to 9:00am. Race day registration is also available (cash or check preferred).
